FORMER Liverpool striker Djibril Cisse never did cut the figure of a shy or retiring wallflower during his playing days on Merseyside.
The former France international - formerly known as the Lord of the Manor of Frodsham after acquiring the title in the purchase of his country manor house in 2005 - was rated just as highly for his colourful barnets as for his goals.
And retirement, it seems, hasn't slaked a thirst for the controversial when it comes to cutting-edge style, as evidenced by his latest offering that defies rhyme, reason and - frankly - taste.
The Frenchman netted just 24 goals in two seasons at Liverpool before being offloaded to Olympique Marseilles, a move which launched a journeyman period in his career that took him via Italy, Greece, Russia, Qatar... and Sunderland.
And that whistle-stop tour of exotic outposts clearly lit the touchpaper for a magnesium flash of inspiration, as evidenced by some of 'inventive' designs he has had etched into his scalp through the years.
Cisse last played for Italian lower-league side Vicenza 1902 after signing a short-term deal in August 2018, but the club were shortly after denied entry to Serie D and were reported to have been unable to pay their players.
It was revealed today that Cisse's former team Liverpool have plans to expand Anfield.
Jurgen Klopp's side could soon be playing in front of 60,000 people with plans to redevelop the Anfield Road End stand.
The ambitious plans mirror the success on the pitch that saw the Reds win the Champions League last season and just miss out on the Premier League title.
They've started this season with two wins from two.
