Daniel Sturridge joins Trabzonspor on £27,000-a-week deal after agreeing £1.8million signing-on fee with Turkish club

DANIEL STURRIDGE has signed for Trabzonspor after being released by Liverpool.

The former England striker, 29, has signed a contract worth £27,000-a-week after tax and agreed a £1.8million signing-on fee with the Turkish side.

He has also signed a three-year deal with Trabzonspor, who tweeted the announcement this afternoon.

Sturridge will be reunited with former Chelsea team-mate John Obi Mikel who signed on a two-year deal earlier this summer.

The former Aston Villa youngster was pictured arriving in Turkey on Monday.

He spent six years at Liverpool, racking up 60 goals in 160 appearances and winning the Champions League in May.

Strurridge is free to resume his career following an FA ban for breaching betting regulations.

SunSport columnist Karren Brady recently compared the forward to Neymar but said his sulky reputation meant no one wanted him.

But he was reportedly offered moves to the MLS, Qatar, Spain, France and Italy before settling on the Super Lig in Turkey.

Sturridge played at every youth level for England between Under-16s and the senior side.

He has 26 Three Lions caps to his name, most recently in 2017.

And the forward has netted eight goals, including against Italy at the World Cup in 2014 and the late winner against Wales at the Euros two years later.
