ALEXIS SANCHEZ is close to ending his Manchester United nightmare and will undergo a medical at Inter Milan, according to reports.
The Chilean will arrive in Italy on Tuesday ahead of a loan move with a view to a permanent deal.
Sky Sports claim that Inter will pay half of his £505,000-a-week wage packet and can sign him for £14million next summer.
It will mean United will still need to fork out over £250,000 every week despite him playing in Serie A.
Sanchez, 30, has been eager to make the switch across Europe this month having endured a disastrous time in Manchester since moving in January 2018.
He has scored just five goals in 45 appearances for the Red Devils since his move from Arsenal.
Boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer does not eye Sanchez as part of his first-team plans and was eager to get rid if they received an acceptable offer.
And he looks braced to join former team-mate Romelu Lukaku who also joined Antonio Conte's revolution this summer.
Conte was eager to bring in Sanchez as the final piece of his jigsaw as he develops his favoured 3-5-2 formation.
But reports in Italy claimed Sanchez has already demanded that he be handed the vacant No7 jersey that was previously worn by Yann Karamoh - now on a loan spell at Parma.
The forward wore the same number at United and Arsenal and wants to continue in the same fashion.
Solskjaer had revealed that he planned to use the forward if he remained at the club.

He said: "Alexis is such a pro and he comes in working every single day really hard and wants to be a part of this.
“It's these stories that he's been put in the reserves - of course he hasn't, he's had three weeks now, he's a few weeks behind the rest but close to being ready.
“We don't have the biggest forward line in numbers, so Alexis might end up playing a lot more games than you expect, we expect him to come good at this club, he's quality.”
