Reading star Yakou Meite reveals sick racist abuse as he’s branded a ‘f***ing monkey’ after 3-0 win against Cardiff
READING star Yakou Meite has suffered vile racist abuse on social media.
The Ivorian winger was branded a "f***ing monkey" after his side's 3-0 win against Cardiff.
Meite, 23, missed a penalty for the Royals following his late introduction at the Madejski Stadium.
And similar to the disgusting treatment Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham experienced after he failed to convert his Super Cup spot-kick, Meite was attacked online.
Meite disclosed a private message after Sunday's game where a sick troll labelled him a "f***ing monkey" after writing: "Mother f***er. Can't score penalty."
The former Paris Saint-Germain star posted a screenshot of the messages to his Twitter alongside the caption: "I don't think I need to speak."
Following the revelation of the racist abuse, Meite received floods of support from Royals fans who condemned the online bile.
The account that the original message was sent from later appeared to have been deleted.
Reading issued a response in which they strongly stood by their player.

The club tweeted a picture of Meite celebrating, with the words: "We won’t give oxygen to racist comments sent to this man via social media this afternoon.
"Instead, we will let a picture tell a thousand words. 'We’ve got Meite...Yakou Meite...'"
Meite later added: "Thanks everyone for the support, we are all together."
