Man Utd flop Memphis Depay ‘needs to be back in Prem’ after stunning assist for Lyon
FANS are convinced Memphis Depay is ready to return to the Premier League after his incredible assist for Lyon.
The former Manchester United winger, 25, also scored twice as the Ligue 1 leaders thumped Angers 6-0.
Depay failed to live up to expectations at Old Trafford after he joined from PSV Eindhoven for £25million in 2015.
He scored just two Premier League goals in 33 appearances for United before he left to join Lyon in 2017.
The 25-year-old has managed to reignite his career in France and he produced a moment of magic during the win over Angers.
After a ball was delivered over the top, Depay charged into the penalty area and managed to hold off a defender.
The 48-cap Netherlands international then turned the defender inside out with a string of silky skills.
Depay then pulled the ball back to team-mate Jean Lucas, who effortlessly slotted the ball into the back of the net.
After a clip of the assist did the rounds on Twitter, fans called for Depay to return to England.
One Twitter user said: “Mate he needs to be back in the Prem asap.”
Before he added: “Got to be a £60million player.”
Another fan said: “Very surprised no one tried to snap him up this summer. Top player.”
Depay insisted he flopped at Manchester United because he was too immature – but has claimed he has now grown up.
