FRANK LAMPARD told Tammy Abraham he can come back a stronger player after his shootout heartache.

The Chelsea chief spoke to his young forward - who earned their penalty in extra-time - on the pitch after Adrian became a Kop hero.

Lamps said: “I told Tammy not to worry. I have missed penalties, he will come back stronger.”

The Chelsea chief was also furious with Uefa after Liverpool were given 48 hours more to prepare for the final.

Jurgen Klopp’s players beat Norwich on Friday night, but Chelsea had to play in Manchester on Sunday.

It gave Lampard little time to prepare his players for a trophy he was desperate to land.

He added: “It is clear to me, but if you are playing as game as important as the Super Cup and for Liverpool to play at home, to have two more days of recovery then course it is an advantage to them going in.

“It is unfortunate there is a clear two day extra time for recovery and preparation.

“It happens a lot. It is a bit frustrating and I don’t want to look like I am moaning.”

Chelsea were much improved following Sunday’s 4-0 tonking at Manchester United.

Lamps, now preparing for Sunday’s clash with Leicester, added: “We have to respect Liverpool, but we were clearly the stronger team.

“We had some bad finishing, we need to be more clinical. My overall feeling is pride, but I am a terrible loser. We will get better.

There were signs against Manchester United, but this was clear.

“It was a good performance, but Liverpool have been building for years.

“I have been here for six weeks, but I saw work ethic and desire. People are obsessed with our young players, but we gave everything.

“To lose the game is disappointing but if Chelsea’s season is based on how we played then we will be ok.”
