CHELSEA flop Danny Drinkwater has ended his Stamford Bridge nightmare by joining Burnley on a season-long loan deal.
The 2015-16 Premier League champion will join Sean Dyche's Clarets to add some much-needed steel to their midfield.
Norwich and Brighton had been in the market for ex-Leicester star Drinkwater, but Burnley clung on to land their the Blues ace.
The English midfielder said: “It feels good to be home and now I just want to concentrate on my football.
“From the people I’ve met so far, this feels like a nice family club with down to earth people and staff, and that helps.
“When you are happy, that’s when you take it onto the field and play your best football.
“It was a bit of a complicated time at Chelsea, but I see this as a positive move and I’m looking forward to getting going.
“Unfortunately it’s not happened for me at Chelsea, but you have to go with the flow. I think now the target is to get to a level where the manager is happy with my fitness and keep moving forward and working hard."
Drinkwater could be in the frame to take on Southampton in this weekend's Premier League opener.
After playing just ONCE last season - in the Community Shield defeat to Manchester City - Drinkwater was given a chance in pre-season to prove himself to new boss Frank Lampard.
