Koscielny Bordeaux transfer announced by Arsenal in blunt statement after nine-year spell and three FA Cup wins

ARSENAL have left a blunt farewell message to club captain Laurent Koscielny after he sealed his switch to Bordeaux.

The veteran centre-back ended his nine-year stint with the Gunners on sour terms after going AWOL for their pre-season tour of America.

Koscielny angered the club after refusing to join the rest of his team-mates to push through a move back home.

The Gunners had no choice in accepting Bordeux's £4.6million offer and he has sealed his switch after passing a medical.

Despite guiding the club to three FA Cup titles, Arsenal wrote on Twitter: "Laurent Koscielny is leaving us to join Ligue 1 side Bordeaux."

A further statement on their website read: "Laurent Koscielny is leaving us to join Ligue 1 side Bordeaux.

"The centre back has made 353 appearances for us since signing from Lorient in 2010. He was part of our Emirates FA Cup-winning squads in 2014, 2015 and 2017.

"Laurent, who started his career in the French second division at Guingamp in 2004, has played 51 matches for France and was entering the final year of his current contract with us. We decided to sanction his move to Bordeaux once we agreed acceptable transfer terms.

"We thank Laurent for his contribution to the club and wish him all the best for the future.

"The transfer is subject to the completion of regulatory processes."

But it appears fans are more than happy to see the back of the 33-year-old.

One commented: "You won't be missed you f****** mug, way to ruin your whole Arsenal career."

Unai Emery had forced Koscielny to train with the kids - even after the first-team returned from America - as punishment for his tour snub.

The Gunners are also on the brink of offloading Carl Jenkinson with Nottingham Forest interested in the £5m-rated defender.
