Man Utd pull plug on Dybala transfer with Juventus striker reluctant to move in Lukaku swap deal
PAULO DYBALA is set to stay at Juventus after Manchester United decided against signing the Argentine forward.
A number of factors added up to compel Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side to take their business elsewhere.
That is despite Dybala appearing key to United's attempts to sell Romelu Lukaku.
But the Argentine won't be heading to Old Trafford.
Central to the Red Devils' reluctance to sign Dybala was their sense that he simply didn't want to leave Juve.
While he struggled to consistently hit the back of the net last season, he has been with the Old Lady for four years with the league won in each of those - making up part of his nine titles with the club.
In addition, Dybala's wage demands were far beyond United's plans.
A new contract for David de Gea will put the goalkeeper on a similar salary to Alexis Sanchez's £505,000-a-week takings and the striker reportedly wanted to match that amount.
On top of that, his agent Jorge Antun wanted a mammoth fee thought to top £13million.
ROM MORE BLOW
Exactly where this leaves outcast forward Lukaku remains to be seen, but his hopes of swapping Manchester for Turin are now in massive doubt.
Another man linked to this move was Mario Mandzukic, who Sun Sport revealed was offered to United as part of Juve's swoop for Lukaku.
The Premier League club may still be able to dislodge the Belgian if Inter Milan come back in for a move.
Radja Nainggolan has left the club on loan but they are still keen to sell Mauro Icardi before they can afford to meet United's £75m demands.
United, meanwhile, are almost ready to complete the £85m signing of Harry Maguire early next week.
