MANCHESTER UNITED last night splashed the cash for Harry Maguire in a world-record £85million deal.
The Red Devils finally agreed a fee with Leicester to make Maguire the most expensive defender in football.
His stunning fee — £10m more than Liverpool forked out for Virgil van Dijk — will be paid in cash without add-ons.
Maguire, 26, will now undergo a medical before signing a six-year contract.
It is the second highest fee paid by a Premier League club, after Paul Pogba’s £89m Old Trafford return.
It brings an end to the transfer saga as United battled rivals Manchester City for the England centre-back.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer made the ex-Sheffield United ace his No 1 target but there was no early breakthrough with talks as Leicester insisted on topping the Van Dijk record.
Maguire missed training earlier in the week and was then left out of last night’s pre-season friendly with Atalanta amid uncertainty over his future.
But an agreement was reached yesterday morning to allow Maguire to complete his dream move as Solskjaer aims to get United back in the top four.
