Zidane at war with Real over Man Utd star Pogba as club plot Van de Beek transfer from Ajax
ZINEDINE ZIDANE is at loggerheads with his Real Madrid bosses over their refusal to break the bank to sign Paul Pogba.
Zidane is convinced the unsettled Manchester United star will solve the midfield problems at the Bernabeu and wants the club so sign him this summer.
But Zidane is said to be digging his heels in by insisting the Spanish side pay whatever it costs for the French star instead.
The manager is now at war with his board over who should be brought in to strengthen the midfield and appears to be refusing to back down.
The 22-year-old played an integral role in helping the Dutch side reach the semi-final of the Champions League and also claim the title in Holland.
And now he is very much in the sights of the Real board, who believe they can secure his services for £60m - less than half the price of Pogba.
Real's poor displays in pre-season have accelerated the need for them to go out and spend big on a new midfielder.
They have lost four of their five friendlies, including the embarrassing 7-3 thrashing at the hands of local rivals Atletico Madrid.
Pogba has trained well in pre-season with United despite making it clear over the summer that he wanted to find a "new challenge" away from Old Trafford.
And boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is convinced he has done enough to persuade the World Cup winner to remain at Old Trafford.
