Chelsea lumbered with Drinkwater who will stay and earn £100k-a-week after zero clubs make serious offers for the midfield misfit
DANNY DRINKWATER is reportedly set to remain at Chelsea this season.
The claims there are no takers for the midfield misfit, who earns a whopping £100,000-a-week at Stamford Bridge.
Drinkwater has made just 23 appearances since a £35million switch from Leicester two years ago.
It means he has pocketed around £450,000 for each competitive game in a Chelsea shirt.
And Frank Lampard will now be forced to accommodate Drinkwater in his squad for the upcoming campaign, despite handing chances to the likes of Mason Mount and other youngsters.
The England international, 29, was a deadline day signing under Antonio Conte in 2017 following Nemanja Matic’s move to Manchester United.
However, Drinkwater featured just 12 times in the Premier League as he hit by injuries.
And things got even worse for Leicester City’s title winner when Maurizio Sarri took charge in 2018.
The Italian publicly announced that Drinkwater did not fit in with his style of play or formation.

And the midfielder played just once in the Community Shield final defeat to Manchester City before spending the rest of the campaign at home.
Drinkwater was charged with drink-driving earlier this year after crashing his Range Rover, and was given a 20-month driving ban after pleading guilty.
He has featured a couple of times for Chelsea under Lampard in pre-season, but with N’Golo Kante and Ruben Loftus-Cheek still to come back from injury, there appears to be no room for him in Super Frank’s first-team plans.
