Brazil legend Ronaldinho has 57 properties seized and passport confiscated over unpaid taxes and fines

RONALDINHO is forbidden from selling 57 properties after skipping fines and other debts.

Both his Spanish and Brazilian passports have been confiscated, after he was slapped with a financial penalty for failing to pay debts for building a pier at his lake house in Brazil.

He is also liable to pay a £1.69m fine for various outstanding taxes.

According to Brazilian newspaper , the former world player of the year owes £2.06m in unpaid environmental fines the structure at his lake home.

A judge in Porto Alegre told Reuters the case fell under judicial secrecy rules and would not confirm or deny any details about the newspaper report.

Ronaldinho’s lawyer denied the player’s assets were under restriction but told Folha de S.Paulo he could not comment on the details of the case because of the judicial secrecy ruling.

The 39-year-old striker retired from football in 2015 after spells with a host of clubs in Brazil and Europe.

He was twice voted FIFA player of the year while playing for Barcelona and he also won the World Cup with Brazil in 2002.

Ronaldinho, who snubbed Manchester United for Barcelona in 2003, famously lobbed David Seaman from 40 yards in England’s 2-1 World Cup defeat to the Samba Boys during the quarter final 17 years ago.

Fellow Brazil star Cafu has also had similar problems with paying debts, after having his assets seized.
