Tarkowski also has admirers ahead of the summer transfer deadline — but Cahill is wanted regardless of his future.

The 33-year-old left Stamford Bridge at the end of last season after a glittering career that including a Champions League triumph in 2012.

Clubs in the Championship including Fulham have been looking at a deal for him but no deal has been thrashed out yet.

Galatasaray have also registered an interest in taking him but moving to Turkey would mean upheaval for Cahill after more than a decade in London.

But Burnley are willing to offer him a £30,000-a-week deal with bonuses for appearances, in the hope he can be tempted to Turf Moor to stay in the Premier League.

Cahill was on the podium to lift the Europa League trophy after being an unused substitute in the 4-1 win in Baku.

But he did get game time in the last two minutes of the Blues' 3-0 Premier League win over Watford.

The Clarets face Parma at Turf Moor on Saturday before playing Southampton a week later in their Premier League opener, with a trip to Arsenal coming a week later.
