Solskjaer rules Lukaku out of Man Utd vs Spurs due to ‘training injury’ as Inter Milan transfer target misses fourth game in a row
ROMELU LUKAKU has been ruled out of Manchester United’s friendly clash with Tottenham on Thursday.
The Belgian striker, who is heavily linked with a move to Inter Milan, is still not fit to play after picking up a "knock" in training.
That’s according to his manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who insists he has no regrets about bringing Lukaku on tour despite him not playing a game.
When Solskjaer was quizzed on the fitness of the 26-year-old in his pre-match press conference ahead of the International Champions Cup match, he said: "Lukaku won't be fit, no.
"He has been working with a physio the last few days so I don't think he will make this one, no.
"He got injured in training. It is not too bad, if it was worse we would have sent him home."
Solskjaer added: "Of course it’s never nice to be a player who misses out on important fitness work but also team building work, understanding, tactical approach.
"He’ll just have to make that up later on."
Lukaku missed Saturday's 1-0 victory over Inter Milan, the 4-0 triumph over Leeds a week ago in Australia and the club's first game Down Under when they defeated Perth Glory 2-0.
Inter boss Antonio Conte has made no secret of his desire to bring Lukaku to the San Siro.
But so far they have been unable to stump up the cash United want for the 26-year-old striker.
The Italians have already had one offer of £54m rejected as the Premier League side hold out for £75m.
Yesterday reports emerged that Conte would try tempt the Prem side by including Ivan Perisic as part of a cash-plus-player deal.
However, it is believed Old Trafford chiefs are only willing to do business for a straight cash fee.
