Arsenal fans brand Xhaka ‘worse than Mustafi’ and demand he is sold after Real Madrid penalty miss
ARSENAL fans have torn into Granit Xhaka after a blunder-ridden performance against Real Madrid - with some claiming he's "worse than Mustafi".
Before missing a crucial penalty, the Swiss international, 26, did have the honour of assisting Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang for the Gunners' second in Washington DC.
The goal put Arsenal 2-0 up and they looked like they were cruising against Zinedine Zidane's side.
And Xhaka also played a beautiful through ball to Eddie Nketiah in the 86th minute to put the youngster through one-on-one with Thibaut Courtois.
But Unai Emery's side somehow managed to blow the two-goal lead and then lose to the 13-time European champions on penalties, with Xhaka among the guilty parties who missed.
His tame effort went straight into the path of Courtois, who barely had to dive to his right to deflect the shot away.
Xhaka was also out of position when Real got back into the game through Gareth Bale's tap-in, choosing to grumble to the referee instead of defend inside his own box.
And some labelled him worse than Shkodran Mustafi, who has constantly been panned by Gunners fans and didn't play in the American capital.
'WORSE THAN MUSTAFI'
Fans were furious with his display on Twitter.
Gunners supporter @mikeAFC1 posted: "Another season of Granit Xhaka ladies & gentlemen. He's worse than Mustafi in a way as some fans actually seem to rate him."

Fellow fan @1964rudeboyAFC tweeted: "A very good start and first half though, then downhill from there on. Xhaka still confirming he is useless."
But another supporter @_hfafc said: "Sigh Xhaka literally played a world class ball to put Eddie in 1 on 1 to win the game he played well if you're gonna let a penalty cloud your judgement then [I don't know]."
