HURRY MAGUIRE

Man Utd warned by Brendan Rodgers to hurry Harry Maguire transfer along or face rejection

BRENDAN RODGERS has imposed a deadline on potential bids for Harry Maguire and warned rival Manchester clubs: D-Day is rapidly approaching - the clock is ticking.

The current transfer window slams shut in exactly three weeks at 5pm on August 8 - but Rodgers insists this isn’t a time for brinkmanship.

He adds that even if Leicester received a £75million-plus world record fee for a defender, they would bin it if it fails to beat their internal deadline.

“There will be a cut-off point,” he warned potential buyers Ole Gunnar Solksjaer and Pep Guardiola.

“We can’t leave ourselves short. There are targets we have in mind if Harry was to move on. But we don’t have to sell.

“If the valuation isn’t met it certainly won’t be allowed to go to the very end because, if we did want to bring someone in, it would be too late.

GET ON WITH IT

“So there will be a point – even if the valuation is met - it may just be too late.”

Rodgers has been linked with a £40m move for Brighton’s Lewis Dunk once the Foxes receive an offer twice as big, for England’s first-choice central defender.

He said: “There’s been speculation about 52 players we apparently want at the last count and Lewis was one of them.

“I know Lewis well and his qualities. But there’s been speculation about many, many players - some I don’t know who they are!

“We’ll assess it and see if we need to bring one in.

Perhaps a young one, not necessarily for this season – for the next few years.

"We have to look at Wes Morgan and where he’s at.”
