Martinelli has barely had time to integrate to his new surroundings after joining from Ituano FC on July 2.

A whipped cross led to a brilliantly improvised chest finish by the Brazilian.

His family were watching and their celebrations were captured in a heartwarming clip.

The goal was unsurprisingly met by a chorus of cheers with a couple of family members leaping from their seats.

One young child was seen running across the room in sheer delight as he celebrated.

Martinelli, 18, was expected to develop in the academy during his first year in England, however growing excitement about the youngster is now in overdrive after a fine display against Colorado Rapids.

Following the dream start, Emery was asked if the £6million signing could have a role to play this season.

His answer hinted that Martinelli could push the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette for a place in the first team.

He said: “Our idea is to give every young player chances to be with us, first in training and after in matches.

“The idea is to continue with them and give them chances.

“They will win chances to show us what they can do.”
