Sheffield United close in on £6m transfer of Preston star Callum Robinson after bid accepted
SHEFFIELD UNITED have stepped up plans for the Premier League with a move for Callum Robinson.
The Blades had a bid worth more than £6million accepted by Preston yesterday.
The forward was then given permission to talk to Chris Wilder’s side.
Preston confirmed they allowed the 24-year-old to leave the club’s training camp in Ireland to discuss personal terms and have a medical.
Bournemouth and Norwich were also looking to land the Aston Villa trainee but Wilder moved quickest to land him.
United have already brought in two signings this summer ahead of their first season back in the top flight since 2007.
Phil Jagielka played all 38 league games in that season as the Blades finished 18th and has returned to Bramall Lane for the upcoming campaign after leaving Everton.
Former Arsenal youngster Luke Freeman has also signed from QPR.

But Wilder is expected to get plenty more business done before the transfer window closes on August 8.
Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson was pivotal in the promotion-winning campaign last year and has not travelled to Australia ahead of a potential return.
And as revealed by SunSport, both Coventry midfielder Tom Bayliss and Ben Osborn of Nottingham Forest are both transfer targets, with the Blades submitting a £3m bid for the latter already.
