‘Ungrateful’ Gareth Bale abused by Real Madrid fans as he reports for pre-season training
GARETH BALE received an angry reception from Real Madrid fans as he returned for pre-season training with the Spanish giants.
The out of favour Welshman arrived at Los Blancos’ training ground and was met with shouts of “desagradecido” which is Spanish for ungrateful.
Pulling up to the Madrid based complex in a silver Audi 4X4, the 29-year-old looked stony faced as he cruised passed fans shouting the abuse.
The winger has been out of favour at the club for some time and his rift with boss Zinedine Zidane shows no sign of passing.
Real are desperate to offload Bale to free up funds to help them land their No1 target – Manchester United’s Paul Pogba.
As part of a bumper deal to land the Frenchman, Madrid are set to offer Bale or Isco to United as well as £72million cash.
Pogba appeared to clash with Jesse Lingard as the Red Devils arrived in Australia for their pre-season tour but the clearly unhappy Frenchman will only be allowed to leave if a club hit United’s £150m valuation.
And unless Real can get Bale off their wage bill they will be in no position to make such a move having already splashed out on Eden Hazard, Luka Jovic and Eder Militao during this window.
The Welshman scored just 14 goals last season and did not feature in any of Real’s last three league matches despite being fully fit.
Bale is reportedly reluctant to leave Los Blancos and will not push for a Bernabeu exit given his staggering £650k-a-week contract that has three years left to run.
