Neymar free to leave PSG for Barcelona if there’s an offer that ‘suits all parties,’ says sporting director Leonardo
NEYMAR has been given the green light to leave Paris Saint-Germain by sporting director Leonardo.
The Brazilian superstar has been linked with a return to Barcelona.
Asked explicitly if Barca had been in touch over a return, Leonardo said: "Yes."
PSG confirmed earlier on Monday that there would be punishment for the forward after he did not show up for pre-season training.
Neymar's father and agent, Neymar Sr, claimed that the club already knew he would not be able to make it back until July 16 because of a commitments to his sponsors.
Leonardo says the club were aware of the commitments but these were "not dates agreed with the club."
The former AC Milan star added that it is "clear" that Neymar has already told the club he wants to leave.
However, PSG have not yet received any offers, although he confirmed they have made initial contact with Barcelona.
Leonardo said: "Neymar can leave PSG, if there is an offer that suits everyone.
"But to date, we do not know if anyone wants to buy it or at what price. All this is not done in a day, that's for sure..."
He added: "PSG wants to rely on players who want to stay and build something big.
"We do not need players who would do a favour at the club by staying here."
