Mohamed Elneny set to quit Arsenal for Bordeaux in cut-price transfer with Egyptian taking wage cut
MOHAMMED ELNENY is set to quit Arsenal and join Bordeaux in a cut-price transfer which will see the midfielder forced to take a wage pay-cut.
The Egyptian struggled for game time last season following the arrivals of Matteo Guendouzi and Lucas Torreira.
The 26-year-old has failed to impress since his £7million move from Basel in January 2016 and made just five Premier League starts for Unai Emery.
Elneny was put up for sale earlier this year and has now been subject of an approach from Bordeaux, according to
The Egypt international was offered to Crystal Palace and Fulham last summer but his £55,000-per-week wages proved too much of a stumbling block.
This would mean Elneny would be likely to have to take a pay cut to join the French side should he want to leave the Emirates in search of first-team football.
Elneny, having fallen down the pecking order at Arsenal, was also close to leaving the club in January with Roma interested in his services.

A move to Bordeaux would see him reunite with coach Paulo Sousa, whom he worked with during his time in charge of Basel four seasons ago.
The Portuguese coach has gone on record saying he is tempted to bring in players for next season with whom he has worked before.
Elneny should not be a pricey signing for the Ligue 1 outfit, but Arsenal are still expecting to recoup the fee they paid for the midfielder three years ago.
