Shkodran Mustafi gives Arsenal fans hope as flop defender hints at transfer away on social media
SHKODRAN MUSTAFI dropped a huge hint on social media that he is set to leave Arsenal this summer.
The defender sent fans wild when he changed his profile picture and removed “Player for Arsenal” from his Instagram bio.
Arsenal have tried to get rid of Mustafi during every transfer window since he arrived from Valencia in 2016.
But his latest social media activity has suggested that his days are finally numbered in North London.
Mustafi, 27, changed his profile picture from an image of him an Arsenal shirt to a picture of him posing with his mobile phone.
And his bio now simply reads “Back on top” in emojis.
After eagle-eyed fans noticed the change, one Twitter user said: “Good news. Maybe he’ll be heading to Ajax.”
Another brutally added: “Goodbye, we did not need you either. One of the worst players Arsenal have ever had.”
While one said: “It’s happening!!! I beg you Arsenal, get it done.”
Arsenal fans were left fearing the worst when Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang also removed his Instagram bio and picture.
Mustafi has fuelled speculation that he is set to leave just days after he returned to training with the first-team at London Colney.
The defender showed that he has started his pre-season by running under water with a rock while on holiday in Greece.
But the Gunners have already been in contact with Gremio over the £12m transfer of Walter Kanneman to replace Mustafi.
