GUNNER MAKE IT?

Tyreece John-Jules shows Arsenal first-team potential and could help Emery save funds in transfer market

TYREECE JOHN-JULES proved he is ready for the step up to Arsenal's first-team after stealing the show against Boreham Wood.

With Unai Emery lacking transfer funds this summer, the Gunners boss could be forced to call up the young Gunns to bolster his squad next season.

And John-Jules proved he has the potential when he scored twice after coming off the bench against the National League side.

Arsenal got off to a shaky start at Meadow Park and found themselves two goals down after 15 minutes.

At half-time, Steve Bould decided to make five changes in a desperate bid to turn around the 3-1 scoreline.

John-Jules, who scored eight goals in as many games for England's Under-18s, breathed life into the tie when he came off the bench.

In the 60th minute, he created space for himself on the edge of the box before he found the net with a sensational strike.

He then confidently doubled his tally from the penalty spot to make it 3-3 after Mark McGuinness was fouled.

His performance saved Steve Bould from humiliation on his first game back at the helm of the youth setup.

The English forward has been with the club since the age of eight and the club will not want to lose him this summer.

But his talent has attracted interest from some of Europe's biggest clubs including Paris Saint-Germain and Monaco.

Arsenal fans will be relieved to hear that his long-term aim is to be a regular in the first-team at the Emirates.

Speaking on the club website, he said: "Playing for the first team is of course my long-term aim but in the short term I hope to play as many games as I can for the Under 18s and Under 23s.

"If I can get plenty of goals that will be a massive help!"
