Birmingham throw Saido Berahino career lifeline as they offer Stoke striker a trial
Birmingham City are ready to throw Saido Berahino a lifeline and the chance to make it in the Championship.
Blues will invite the striker for a trial after he was axed by Stoke City following a controversial spell in the Potteries.
The 25-year-old made his name at neighbours West Brom and coach Pep Clotet thinks he could be a steal if he gets the best out of him.
The Burundi international is back from the African Cup of Nations and Birmingham hope he comes into pre-season training in the next few days.
Birmingham sold Che Adams and are in the market for a replacement who can also play in the style Clotet wants.
Berahino is expected to leave Stoke this summer - but he still has three years left on the contract he signed after his switch from West Brom in 2017.
