MANCHESTER CITY have re-signed Angelino from PSV Eindhoven after activating a £5.3m buy-back clause on the left-back.

The 22-year-old academy graduate has become Pep Guardiola’s first addition to his Premier League winning squad this summer.

The Spain Under 21 international played every game for the Eredivisie outfit last season as they finished second behind Ajax.

His form attracted a host of European clubs, including Arsenal, in securing his signature but they faced having to stump up to £20m.

But City swooped to resign their academy star on a four-year deal for a bargain cut-price fee.

And Angelino will now be another option to the injury-prone Benjamin Mendy, and provide cover to natural midfielder Oleksandr Zinchenko.

He said: "I am thrilled to have rejoined City, a side playing incredible football under Pep Guardiola.

"Watching them while playing in Holland has been a pleasure.

"City’s performances over the last two seasons have been incredible and I am very excited about returning and contributing to the Club’s bid for more success.

"I believe my own game can develop under Pep’s management and I am very confident that the Club will go from strength to strength over the next few years."

Angelino

Angelino originally made the switch to the Etihad in 2013, and has spent time on loan at New York City FC, Girona, Mallorca and NAC Breda.

He made his senior debut under former manager Manuel Pellegrini in the 4-0 FA Cup win over Aston Villa three years later.

City Director of Football Txiki Begiristain added: “Angelino is a hugely talented young player and is an accomplished defender with great potential.

“Over the past year, he has gained excellent experience playing in the Eredivisie and the Champions League with PSV Eindhoven.

“We’re sure that he will bring additional defensive quality to our squad.”

City have also moved closer to announcing their second signing after they agreed to pay Rodri's £63million release clause at Atletico Madrid.

A holding midfielder has been a priority for the City boss for over a year to help ease the load from 34-year-old Fernandinho.

And now the 23-year-old Spain international will move to the Etihad for a club-record fee after Atletico confirmed he had been released.
