BARCELONA can sign Antoine Griezmann for a reduced fee after his release clause dropped from £179m to £107m today.

The Manchester United target is set to sign a five-year deal with the Spanish club – two months after he told Atletico Madrid he intended to leave.

PSG have also been linked with the 28-year-old but Barca and United are his two main long-term admirers.

Now Atletico have reportedly agreed to sell Griezmann to the La Liga champions, even though he only signed a five-year contract extension last season.

It is understood that the only thing holding up the deal was Barcelona waiting for his release clause to be reduced.

But last month Nou Camp president Josep Maria Bartomeu denied that a deal is in place.

Bartomeu said last week: “There’s nothing to announce.

“We’ve always said it, we’ve never spoken to him, there’s nothing.

“We’re already seeing how the market is growing these days and weeks.”

It is understood United were willing to pay up to £95m.

But Barca have always been favourites for Griezmann’s signature.

Now the 70-cap superstar could soon be partnering Lionel Messi and Neymar, who has reportedly agreed tot ake a huge pay cut to return from PSG.
