LEED-ING THE WAY

How Leeds could line up next season if they seal sensational Totti and Buffon transfers

LEEDS have raised the bar this summer in regards to their transfer targets.

The Championship club somehow blew the chance to be promoted last season after failing in the play-offs and are now preparing to go one better.

And with Marcelo Bielsa confirmed to be at the helm next campaign, Leeds will fancy their chances of doing exactly that.

They have already been linked with a sensational move for legendary keeper Gianluigi Buffon.

The Italian is a free agent after leaving Paris Saint-Germain and reports in Italy claim he is weighing up interest from the Elland Road club.

But the Whites are thought to be competing with Brazilian side Fluminense and Portuguese giants Porto for his signature.

OUT OF RETIREMENT?

Another stunning potential move could be Roma hero Francesco Totti.

Despite retiring two years ago, it was claimed by a friend that one club – thought to be Leeds – have offered him the chance to dust off his boots.

Totti sensationally quit his role as club director of Roma earlier this month before hitting out at the hierarchy.

Bielsa is likely to keep the core set of players from last season but another addition could be the arrival of Wolves’ Helder Costa on loan.

Costa made a healthy 30 appearances last season at Molineux but only made nine Premier League starts under Nuno Espirito Santo.

But they may have a struggle to keep hold of Kalvin Phillips in midfield as SunSport exclusively revealed that Aston Villa are preparing a move.

And highly-talented winger Jack Clarke remains a £8.5million target for Tottenham.
