Charlton make last-ditch bid to persuade Rangers target Joe Aribo to stay at the Valley
RANGERS target Joe Aribo is set to meet Charlton boss Lee Bowyer as the club launch a last-gasp bid to keep the midfielder at the Valley.
The Standard claim the Addicks gaffer has been trying to convince the midfielder to pen a new deal, and will hold crunch talks with him on Friday.
had also been interested in Aribo but Gers moved ahead of their rivals after holding talks.
Aribo, who graduated from the Charlton academy, has attracted interest from a host of clubs.
The Championship new boys will only receive a cross-border fee of around £250,000 should he pitch up at Ibrox.
Bowyer, who agreed a new one-year contract extension this week, still remains hopeful of convincing Aribo that the Valley is the best place for his development.
However, it's looking likely that the midfielder will depart the club for a switch north.
Meanwhile, Rangers could face old foes Progres Niederkorn in the Europa League.
Gerrard and Co will face one of Cork City, Progres or Cardiff Met University should they overcome Prishtina or St Joseph's in the first qualifying round.
Back in 2017, Pedro Caixinha's Rangers side suffered one of their worst ever results after losing 2-1 on aggregate to the Luxembourg minnows.
