Crystal Palace top table for fans taking drugs at games – with Chelsea and Liverpool in top ten
CRYSTAL PALACE are top of the league - when it comes to taking drugs at football matches.
A nationwide poll of fans who regularly attend games, called The Fan Survey, found that 33 per cent of Eagles supporters had witnessed drug-taking at games.
The study didn't reveal what kind of drugs fans were taking, but cocaine is thought to be the most commonly abused substance at matches.
A recent investigation found there had been a ten per cent rise in arrests for cocaine at stadiums across the country in the past year, with 68 arrests last season alone.
But police believe the 68 arrests are just the tip of the iceberg and the problem is only going to get worse as fans snort the class A drugs on the terraces and in toilets.
A poll by sports tipsters Free Super Tips found that Celtic fans were in second spot when it came to taking drugs at games.
A whopping 26 per cent of Hoops fans saying they had seen fans taking drugs at Celtic Park.
CHELSEA'S BLUES
A total of three per cent of Manchester United fans said they had seen supporters take banned substances.
The study also found that Chelsea was worst for racist or homophobic language at games, according to their OWN fans.
A total of 41 per cent of Blues supporters claimed they'd witnessed racist abuse at home games, with 28 per cent of Man Utd fans saying they witnessed racist comments at Old Trafford.
A quarter of Liverpool supporters claimed to have heard racially-motivated comments, followed by 19 per cent of Arsenal fans and 18 per cent of the Tottenham faithful.
Chelsea also came top for homophobic language, with 31 per cent of fans saying they had heard fans use offensive language.

Jake Apperley, a spokesperson for Free Super Tips, said: “The survey shows a number of concerning issues that continue at matches across the country.
“Fan experiences at football games are painting a negative picture with a number of Premier League clubs seeing racism, homophobia and drug abuse taking place in the grounds.”
