Cristiano Ronaldo risks Man Utd wrath by urging Matthijs de Ligt to snub them for Juventus after Nations League final
CRISTIANO RONALDO urged Ajax sensation Matthijs de Ligt to snub a move to Manchester United and join him at Juventus after last night's Nations League final.
Portugal captain Ronaldo was seen having a word with the £60million-rated young Holland centre-back following the 1-0 win.
A grinning Ronaldo, 34, then rubbed De Ligt's hair and walked off to celebrate with his team-mates.
De Ligt, 19, is yet to decide on his next club with the likes of United, Liverpool, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain desperate for his signature.
And it would seem Juventus have now joined the race, with Ronaldo trying to convince the youngster to link up with him in Turin.
Asked if he had questioned if he would be his team-mate at Juve, De Ligt told NOS: "That could be true, yes.
"I didn't understand him at first. I was a little shocked, so I laughed, but I didn't say anything.
"Shortly after the game you are not at all concerned with it, you are disappointed you have lost and that is the only thing you are thinking about."
De Ligt managed to keep Old Trafford legend Ronaldo quiet throughout the game, with Goncalo Guedes scoring the only goal with a blistering 60th-minute shot to win the inaugural Nations League.
