VAR controversy AGAIN as England ‘robbed’ of Lingard goal after being ruled out for offside against Holland… but fans didn’t think so
ENGLAND fans are convinced Jesse Lingard's disallowed goal should have stood.
The Manchester United forward thought he had fired the Three Lions into the Nations League final with a late winner against the Dutch.
A wonderful move saw Lingard played through on goal by Ross Barkley before finishing confidently into the bottom corner.
While England were celebrating in front of their own jubilant fans, the referee went to check with VAR to see if Lingard was offside.
After a lengthy and agonising wait, the goal was cruelly disallowed and play continued.
But a replay shown on Sky Sports appeared to show that the referee's call came down to a matter of millimetres.
And fans believe the officials watching the game made the wrong call.
One said: "Anyone else think VAR have got this wrong? Seeing it again, Dumfries is playing Lingard onside..."
Another said: "Lingard was onside surely?!"

And a third added: "Lingard looked onside with the VAR screenshot... need to get some better camera angles and more cameras round the pitch."
Just moments later it was England's turn to be left with a nervy wait when Holland were appealing a potential handball by Ben Chilwell.
A cross crashed into the side of the Leicester defender inside the box but replays showed it hit his back.
