Max Allegri heading to London for English lessons as he eyes Chelsea job

FORMER Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri is eyeing up a move to the Premier League by taking English lessons.

The 51-year-old has made no secret of the fact he wants a new challenge after spending five years with the Turin club, who won the title again this season.

Sources close to Allegri say he is taking a break at Disneyland in Paris with his TV star partner Ambra Angiolini before heading to London.

He is known to have spoken to close pal and former Chelsea boss Antonio Conte about life in the capital and would jump at the chance of managing the Stamford Bridge outfit.

Current boss Maurizio Sarri is being eyed up by Allegri’s old club and he was pictured meeting Juve officials in Baku ahead of last week’s Europa League win.

But the Blues will not allow the ex-Napoli gaffer to leave unless Juve cough up his £5.3million release clause.

Derby boss Frank Lampard is also understood to be on the shortlist to replace Sarri should he leave, as well as England No2 Steve Holland.

But Allegri will be seen as a major coup having won five consecutive Scudetto titles, the Coppa Italia four times, while also finishing runners-up in the Champions League twice.

Before moving to Chelsea in 2017, Conte also had English lessons at an exclusive language school in Surrey and quickly picked it up.

A source said: "Italians have a fascination with London and there has always been a strong link with Chelsea right back to the days of Gianluca Vialli and Gianfranco Zola.

“Allegri has managed two of the biggest clubs in Italy - Juventus and AC Milan but he wants a new challenge and the draw of the Premier League is of interest to him.”

It comes after Napoli legend Lorenzo Insigne said Sarri moving to Juventus would be a betrayal to him and fans of the club after he vowed never to join them.
