NEIL WARNOCK correctly predicted that Liverpool would lose the Prem title race but win the Champions League - way back in October.

Despite watching the Reds crush his side 4-1 at Anfield, the Cardiff boss fancied Manchester City to retain the title ahead of Jurgen Klopp’s outfit.

But the 70-year-old believed the Reds would quickly get over their domestic heartache and become European champions for the sixth time.

He told the BBC after the Liverpool defeat last October: “I think they have more chance of winning the Champions League if I’m honest.

“They are that type of team with the forwards they have.

“I think City will be too strong for them in the (Premier) League.

“But I think it might be their year in the Champions League."

And Warnock was proved right on Saturday when Mo Salah and Divock Origi helped Liverpool beat Tottenham 2-0 at the Wanda Metropolitano on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Warnock will stay on in the Bluebirds hotseat next season despite relegation.

The experienced manager - who holds the record for most promotions with eight - will see out the final year of his contract in South Wales.
