NO MOUR?

Six Liverpool players make Champions League team of year… with only one Spurs star

LIVERPOOL have six players in the BT Sport Champions League team-of-the-year while fellow finalists Spurs have just one.

Only semi-final hero Lucas Moura made it from the North Londoners - while the Reds took up more than half of the remaining spots.

Fans were asked to vote for their favourite in each position in a 4-3-3 usually adopted by the Merseysiders.

Ajax's Matthijs de Ligt was the only non-Red to make the defence as Trent Alexander-Arnold, Andrew Robertson and Virgil van Dijk completed the four.

PFA player-of-the-year Van Dijk took the greatest vote share of the entire team with a whopping 87 per cent.

After Loris Karius gifted Real Madrid a goal in Liverpool's Champions League final last year, Reds' fans can be far more confident with their man between the sticks this time around.

Brazilian Alisson took the number one slot with an impressive 64 per cent of the vote.

Positions were shared more evenly in the midfield and attack with Man City, Barcelona and Spurs represented for the first time.

The midfield three consists of Georginio Wjinaldum and Frenkie de Jong while City's Bernardo Silva is the only quarter-finalist to make the cut.

And up-front - despite their eventual exit at the hands of Liverpool - Barcelona's Lionel Messi took the right wing spot.

Undoubtedly thanks in no small part to his performance in the first leg of the semi-final against the Reds at the Nou Camp.

Reds' unsung hero Sadio Mane got voted in on the left side with 45 per cent - but Spurs fans had to wait until the very last position on the field before they saw one of their own.

Harry Kane has been out since early April which has seen Lucas Moura step into the breach.

The ex-PSG man notched a heroic hat-trick in Spurs' semi-final second leg at Ajax which saw the north-Londoners progress to their first European final since 1984 - and their first ever Champions League one.

The Brazilian completed the 11 with 50 per cent of the vote ahead of stars including Sergio Aguero and Roberto Firmino.
