ARSENE WENGER was mercilessly mocked on social media after he lost the ball in his own box while "d***ing around at the back".

If nothing else, the ex-boss, 69, was staying true to his Arsenal philosophy during the charity match with Zinedine Zidane and Co.

But really, Wenger - displaying a turning circle of a 50-ton tank - should have gone via the Tony Pulis route and given the ball a good, old whack up-field.

Earlier on Tuesday, the Frenchman - who spent his playing career in the lower leagues of France - had gone viral for a very different reason.

Wenger was seen "skinning" Real Madrid boss Zidane - but some fans are now questioning the reality of the situation.

In a clip posted to Twitter, the former Arsenal boss could be seen with the ball in his own penalty area.

Dawdling on the ball, Wenger should welly the ball clear, but instead attempts to run his way out of trouble.

The only problem with that is, he looks likes the slowest man in France as he is comfortably muscled off the ball.

And social media had a field day, with one user writing: "Good to see that he remains loyal to his principles of d***ing around at the back."

Another said: "It explains so much about his defenders."

A third joked: "Martinez now wants him at Barca."

One added: "Will take him a while to adapt to the physicality of the Prem."
