Arsene Wenger linked with stunning return to Japan to manage Iniesta, Villa and Podolski at Vissel Kobe
Former Arsenal boss has been offered a return to management by Japanese outfit Vissel Kobe who are keen on hiring him
ARSENE WENGER has an offer on the table to return to management by Japanese outfit Vissel Kobe.
Wenger - who has been out of work since leaving Arsenal in the summer of 2018 - has taken time out of the game to assess his options.
The Frenchman, 69, who spent 22 years at the Emirates, initially suggested he could take charge of a new club in early 2019.
claim Japanese outfit Vissel Kobe, who have Andres Iniesta, David Villa and Lukas Podolski on their books, are trying to lure Wenger back to the dugout.
The report suggests a two-and-a-half-year deal has been proposed to Wenger and were he to take up the offer, he could stand to make £3.25million a year.
Wenger is no stranger to Japan, having started out his managerial career at Grampus Eight and already speaks Japanese.
In an interview published in The Sun this week, Wenger is adamant his time in football is far from finished.
He said: "When I left Arsenal I thought ‘do I go straight back into that heat again?’
“Because once you go into that, you know there is nothing else.
“So I thought I’d take a bit of time out. Two months . . . three months . . . and now I have a problem to get back in again!
“But I will go back into football for sure. The appetite and the desire is still there. So now I have to decide whether I return as a manager or in another role.
“In 40 years of management, my toughest competition was always with myself. As long as I am on this earth my basic question will always be ‘what is my next level?’
“That will never change. But now I am at an age where I have to fight not to go down.”
