The Frenchman, 69, who spent 22 years at the Emirates, initially suggested he could take charge of a new club in early 2019.

claim Japanese outfit Vissel Kobe, who have Andres Iniesta, David Villa and Lukas Podolski on their books, are trying to lure Wenger back to the dugout.

The report suggests a two-and-a-half-year deal has been proposed to Wenger and were he to take up the offer, he could stand to make £3.25million a year.

Wenger is no stranger to Japan, having started out his managerial career at Grampus Eight and already speaks Japanese.

“But I will go back into football for sure. The appetite and the desire is still there. So now I have to decide whether I return as a manager or in another role.
