CASTING THE ROD OUT

Man Utd and Arsenal in transfer battle for James Rodriguez after he ‘tells Bayern Munich he wants to quit this summer’

MANCHESTER UNITED could make a summer move for Real Madrid outcast James Rodriguez.

The attacker will not extend his loan spell at Bayern Munich, having spent the last two seasons with the German champs.

James Rodriguez is likely to be available for transfer this summer as he returns to Real Madrid

He could have completed a £36million move to star at the Allianz Arena, but looks to be heading back to Spain.

But he is unlikely to be able to convince Zinedine Zidane that he can bag a first-team spot – the French gaffer having loaned him out to begin with.

That will put Manchester United on red alert, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer set for a huge squad overhaul this summer.

RED ROD?

PSG fuelled speculation on social media they want to sign Rodriguez this summer after commenting on a picture he posted on Instagram.

The attacking midfielder made 27 appearances during Bayern’s title winning campaign and will face RB Leipzig in the German Cup final on Saturday.

No bids have been lodged though, and Rodriguez is contracted to Real until 2021.
