Man Utd ‘given hope’ in chase for Ajax star De Ligt despite Barcelona offer

Dutch sensation was thought to be heading for the Nou Camp but Mino Raiola is reportedly demanding more money

The Dutch international was believed to be heading for the Nou Camp with a deal already wrapped up.

reports Mino Raiola has demanded a larger salary and bigger agent's fee.

And they added that Old Trafford chiefs are "economically more committed" - piling the pressure on Barca to open their chequebook.

United are desperate to sign a centre-back and De Ligt, 19, is regarded as one of the best prospects in the position.

Raiola could be using their interest as a bargaining chip for his client in order to push up his value.

But United will hope to jump ahead of the Catalan club as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is a huge fan.

Meanwhile, Prem champs City are likely to be on the hunt for Vincent Kompany’s replacement after his decision to leave.
