Arsenal looking at bringing in Valencia’s Neto or Real Madrid outcast Navas as Cech replacement in summer transfer window
With one goalkeeper set to retire, there will be a key gap to fill in the Gunners' squad
ARSENAL are reportedly considering Keylor Navas and Neto as potential replacements for departing goalkeeper Petr Cech.
The Czech shot-stopper is retiring in the summer and Unai Emery may have to enter the market to find competition for first-choice keeper Bernd Leno.
Real Madrid are said to have told Keylor Navas that his Bernabeu career is over, with coach Zinedine Zidane preferring son Luca to cover Thibaut Courtois from next season.
And Spanish outlet claim Navas is on Emery's watchlist, along with Valencia star Neto.
Joining from Juventus two years ago, the Brazilian has impressed at Estadio Mestallia and is reported to have already held initial talks with Arsenal.
Alas, the Gunners' opening offer on personal terms is said to have fallen short of Neto's expectations.
The door on North London is not shut, however, and Valencia and Arsenal's Champions League qualification status may sway his mind.
Fourth in La Liga, Los Che are in with a good chance of holding out rivals Getafe for the final spot in the Spanish top flight whereas Arsenal must win the Europa League.
Should the Gunners press ahead with negotiations, they may come up against Valencia's £70million release clause held on Neto's contract.
Yet the east coast club are reportedly in financial difficulty and may need to hasten sales if they miss out on the Champions League.
Emery's alternative to Navas or Neto may be Emiliano Martinez, the Reading loanee who has impressed in the Championship but seeks assurances over playing time to stick around.
