FUMING Manchester United fans snubbed their flop players during the lap of honour after leaving early in the drab defeat to Cardiff on the Premier League's final day.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side finished sixth after a 2-0 loss to his former side and many supporters were in no mood to celebrate on a day where rivals City also lifted the title.

A double from Nathaniel Mendez-Laing meant the Red Devils succumbed to their fifth defeat in their last nine league games against the already-relegated Bluebirds.

After the match, Solskjaer led his team back out for the end-of-season tradition but they faced a sea of empty seats.

In fact, furious fans had already stormed out of the ground in droves before the final whistle.

The few supporters that did stick around became involved in a heated argument with star man Paul Pogba, who continued his recent run of bad form in the defeat.

Fans were filmed shouting at Solskjaer to get rid of the Real Madrid target, while the Frenchman stood static and bore the brunt of their frustration.

COLD TRAFFORD

The ugly scenes soured the attempts by the rest of the Old Trafford faithful to serenade Ander Herrera and Antonio Valencia after their final games for the club.

The future Paris Saint-Germain star played no part in his farewell game but he received a resounding ovation when he took his young children onto the pitch after the match.

Club captain Valencia appeared as a substitute for Diogo Dalot on 74 minutes and also accepted adulation after a decade with the Old Trafford club.

Despite the numerous underwhelming performances for United, Solskjaer did single out 17-year-old Mason Greenwood for praise on his first start for the club.

The Norwegian said: "Mason Greenwood was brilliant, he was our best player by a mile and that says a lot about the kid.

“He came into the team with a lack of confidence and you can see that has taken a toll. Not surprised by his performance, we know he is capable of that.

"It will take some time to close in on the top, we finished five or six points behind third, fourth, fifth and that has to be our aim."
