Ex-Arsenal star Frimpong slams Granit Xhaka after Brighton woes… and says he’d prefer one-legged Ramsey
Xhaka conceded penalty as Arsenal blew top four hopes and Frimpong did not hold back on social media
FORMER Arsenal star Emmanuel Frimpong has slammed Granit Xhaka’s display in the weekend draw with Brighton.
Unai Emery’s men were held to a 1-1 stalemate at the Emirates on Sunday, ending their hopes of a top four finish.
Arsenal’s only chance of reaching next season’s Champions League is to win the Europa League.
And loyal Gooners believe their current crop of players showed no heart as they blew the chance to finish above Chelsea and Spurs.
One of those who has come under fire in recent weeks is midfielder Xhaka, 26 - who now has the worst record for conceding penalties in the Premier League.
And ex-Arsenal man Frimpong, 27, astonishingly claimed he’d rather have a “one-legged Aaron Ramsey” than the Switzerland international in the Gunners XI.
The stats seemed to show that Xhaka, despite conceding a penalty, had a decent game before being taken off in the 77th minute.
He made three key passes, recorded a passing accuracy of 90 per cent, made two tackles and completed a clearance.
FRESH FRIM
But that wasn’t good enough for Frimpong, who took to social media to tear Xhaka’s performance apart.
He said: “Is not Mustafi is Xhaka. I’ll rather have a one leg Ramsey than Xhaka.
“Can’t fault effort from the players but how many FU***** TIMES THIS BLOODY XHAKA GIVE AWAY FREE GOALS HE DOES THAT CUS HE CANT MOVE AROUND THE PITCH LACK OF PACE WIN EUROPA NOW.”
Frimpong is a cult figure at Arsenal after spending 13 years at the club.
He made just six Premier League appearances for the Gunners before spending time at the likes of Wolves, Charlton and Fulham on loan.
Frimpong’s last English adventure came with Barnsley five years ago.

And he then bounced around a number of foreign clubs including Ufa, Arsenal Tula, AFC Eskilstuna and Ermis Aradippou.
However, after struggling with knee injuries, Frimpong decided to retire from the game in March.
His football career may not be memorable, but many people still reminisce over his “Dench” catchphrase, which was coined alongside cousin and rapper Lethal Bizzle before becoming a national craze.
