Chelsea fans think Jorginho had a wardrobe malfunction by wearing wrong socks as new kit was given debut against Watford
Italian midfielder's socks looked different to his team-mates in the final game of the season at Stamford Bridge
CHELSEA debuted their new home kit against Watford on Sunday – but it appeared Jorginho didn’t get the memo about wearing the new strip.
The Italian midfielder appeared to be wearing Chelsea’s socks from this season, rather than the news ones.
As Chelsea beat Watford 3-0 at Stamford Bridge to move into third place they did so wearing their new 2019/2020 home kit.
However, journalist Kevin DeVries spotted Jorginho appeared to be wearing the wrong socks – with his completely white opposed to the new ones with a blue and red ring around the calf.
Quite a few fans thought the same thing.
One wrote on Twitter: “Jorginho wearing different socks to everyone else.”
Another asked: “Why is Jorginho wearing different socks?”
However, rather than Jorginho suffering a wardrobe malfunction, it appeared he simply pulled his socks up so hig, he was able to fold them over at the top and cover up the blue and red ring.
Mystery solved!
Chelsea released their new jersey at the start of May with the kit paying homage to Stamford Bridge with several images of their iconic stadium woven into the design.
It is believed the reason Chelsea are paying such great tribute to Stamford Bridge is because they did not think they would be playing there next season.
Chelsea chiefs were planning to build a new £1billlon home and knock down their 40,000 capacity stadium.
While the new stadium was being built the Blues would have temporarily moved into Wembley – like London rivals Tottenham did in 2017.
Tottenham had spent 18 months playing in England’s national stadium while their new 60,000 seated ground was being built.
However, Chelsea have since shelved their plans to build a new stadium.
A statement from the club explaining the decision said: “Chelsea Football Club announces today that it has put its new stadium project on hold.
“No further pre-construction design and planning work will occur.
“The club does not have a time frame set for reconsideration of its decision.”
