Valencia, 33, has not played since the 2-0 win at Newcastle in January but trained today with the first team.

The defender is in contention to feature at Huddersfield on Sunday and against Cardiff a week later, which will be his farewell to the home fans.

Valencia has only managed five Premier League appearances this term, with Ashley Young and Diogo Dalot pushing him down the squad pecking order.

United opted against triggering the 12-month option they had on his deal, allowing Ecuadorian to leave as a free agent.

Valencia moved to United in 2009 and has won two Premier League titles, two League Cups, the FA Cup and the Europa League.

The fans’ favourite has made 338 appearances for the club and won the Matt Busby Player of the Year award in 2012.

He bid the club farewell on social media last month.

He uploaded a photo of the Sir Alex Ferguson stand at Old Trafford accompanied with a "Thank you" caption to his 3.2million followers across Twitter and Instagram.

Meanwhile, Marcus Rashford also took part in today's training session.

The striker lasted 65 minutes of the draw against Chelsea before going off with a shoulder injury.

United are  sixth and have to win their final two games to have any chance of qualifying for next season’s Champions League.
