ANDY CARROLL has undergone a second operation on his troublesome ankle as he aims to get fit to relaunch his career next season away from West Ham.

The former England star, 30, went under the knife earlier this month but has had to book in for further surgery to fix the issue.

Carroll is out of contract at West Ham this summer and will likely have to leave to find first-team football.

It wasn't that long ago Chelsea and Tottenham were rumoured to be knocking on his door in an unlikely January swoop.

But now the injury-prone forward will be worried about whether or not anyone will take a chance on him for the 2019-20 season.

Carroll had already missed the first four months of this campaign following a separate ankle surgery.

The nine-cap England star went on to make 14 appearances in all competitions between December and February, scoring once, before being hit by his ankle curse once more.

Carroll kicked-off his career at Newcastle, where he burst on to the scene as a teenager.

The powerful striker scored 31 times in 80 league games for the Toon, before Liverpool came knocking in an incredible £35million move in January 2011.

After two unsuccessful seasons, scoring six times in 44 Premier League games, he joined West Ham in 2012-13, initially on loan, before making the move permanent.
