Ashley Williams targeted by Wayne Rooney’s MLS team DC United
Aston Villa and Huddersfield have also expressed an interest in the Stoke centre-back, who is on loan from Everton
WAYNE ROONEY’S DC United want to take Wales captain Ashley Williams to the United States.
SunSport can reveal the Eastern Conference leaders - and MLS rivals New York City - have joined the chase to capture the Everton defender.
Williams, 34, is out of contract this summer and has been on loan at Stoke but will leave Goodison Park when his current deal expires.
As well as the USA duo, relegated Premier League outfit Huddersfield and Championship play-off contenders Aston Villa have also declared an interest.
The experienced centre-back has made 37 appearances in all competitions for the Potters this season.
Williams has been Wales skipper since October 2012 and his leadership skills are viewed as a big attraction for potential suitors.
