Stewards try to stop fuming Cardiff fans from confronting Liverpool supporter after celebrating Milner penalty in home end
Terrifying footage shows a mob of angry Bluebirds fans giving chase
THIS is the dramatic moment stewards bundle a Liverpool fan who apparently celebrated in the Cardiff end out of their stadium as furious home supporters try to confront him.
Footage shows the Reds fan being rushed out of the Canton Stand by staff while a mob of seething Cardiff supporters give chase.
In the terrifying clip, a man shouts “f***ing have him” before punches are thrown.
Stewards manage to get the fan outside and shield him from the home supporters by moving bins in the way.
It is claimed the Liverpool fan had celebrated James Milner’s 81st-minute pen, which wrapped up a 2-0 win in Wales.
A man in a pink T-shirt was escorted from his seat in the Canton Stand by stewards during the match as Cardiff supporters hurled abuse at him.
Jeers and chants of “cheerio” could be heard as he was removed.
Another man in a black top and sitting in the home end could be seen lifting his arms in apparent celebration after Georginio Wijnaldum’s broke the deadlock 57 minutes in.
A spokesperson for South Wales Police confirmed two arrests were made after the match.
A Cardiff spokesperson said the club will look at the incident in conjunction with South West Police.
Manchester United fans were ejected from the home section of the Cardiff City stadium during their 5-1 win in December.
One supporter was attacked by fans before being rushed out of exit doors by stewards.
Cardiff’s stadium regulations state: “Any individual who has entered any part of the ground designated for the use of any group of supporters to which he does not belong may be ejected from the ground either for the purposes of his own safety or for any other reason.”
Liverpool beat Cardiff 2-0 to move back ahead of Manchester City to the top of the Premier League.
But City can leapfrog them if they win their game in hand against United at Old Trafford tonight.
