PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN suffered their heaviest league defeat in 19 years after being humiliated 5-1 by Lille - in the game in which they could have wrapped up the league.

Juan Bernat Velasco was sent off for the visitors in the 36th minute, who now must wait to lift the crown.

Kylian Mbappe had two goals disallowed for offside in the first half.

This was PSG's worst league defeat since they conceded five for the first time since losing to Sedan in 2000.

And it was the second week in a row they failed to clinch the league.

They could have won it in record-equalling time last weekend but flopped against Strasbourg.

A shocking Thomas Meunier own goal put hosts Lille in front after just six minutes.

Thomas Tuchel's side looked ready to get cracking open the champagne once more when Velasco levelled soon after.

But he was then shown a straight red in the 36th minute for a tug on Nicolas Pepe despite a VAR check.

It was then Pepe who slotted home Lille's second five minutes after the break - then the floodgates opened.

Jonathan Bamba smashed home the third 14 minutes later and two headers from Gabriel and ex-Southampton star Jose Fonte completed the rout.

Despite the shock scoreline, Tuchel's side are still 17 points clear of Lille with a game in hand.
