West Ham ‘send scout to watch Porto trio’ ahead of summer transfer splurge

Hammers have been keeping tabs on the players for some time and will be looking to splash out at the end of the season

WEST HAM reportedly sent scouts to watch three Porto players who they have been linked with before.

The Hammers are expected to be very active in the summer transfer window with many players expected to leave the club and they appear to be getting ahead on the path to replace them.

Youngsters Mesaque Dju and Xande Silva recently joined the Hammers from Portuguese clubs and the Irons appear to be keeping a keen eye on things in the Primeira Liga.

Both West Ham and Liverpool had scouts in attendance for Porto's 3-0 victory at Portimonense but The Reds' staff were believed to be preparing for their Champions League quarter-final second-leg against the Portuguese champions, according to .

Although it remains unclear exactly which players the Hammers' scout was watching, they are believed to be interested in Moussa Marega, Yacine Brahimi and Hector Herrera.

Striker Marega, 28, scored Porto's second in the win and has 18 goals and 10 assists from 40 appearances for Porto this season.

He also shares Malian heritage with former Hammers striker Fredi Kanoute and could provide much needed attacking reinforcement if Marko Arnautovic, Andy Carroll and Lucas Perez leave as expected.

Brahimi, 29, is a left midfielder who has notched 12 goals and eight assists from 43 appearances this season.

28-year-old Herrera was a target for Arsenal - who hoped the Mexican would replace Aaron Ramsey - until reports suggested he had struck a deal with Atletico Madrid.

But Atletico's president Enrique Cerezo warned last week that the reports were premature.

Although the Hammers scout may have been impressed, Herrera is likely out of their reach.
