Mount has thrived under the management of Lampard at Pride Park this season, with ten goals and three assists.

And he continued his incredible spell of form with a masterclass against Phil Parkinson's struggling side.

After Craig Bryson's opener, Mount doubled the lead on the brink of half-time to put the Rams in cruise control.

He scored his second from close range before he cleverly found his third after a great through ball from Ashley Cole.

Following his sensational performance, fans on Twitter predicted he will be the next big star at Stamford Bridge.

One said: "Honestly, I think Mason Mount is due to fill the boots Frank Lampard left at Chelsea... scored a hat-trick today as a midfielder, that doesn't always happen, he has matured."

Another added: "Mason Mount... what can I say. I really hope you get a chance at Chelsea where you belong. Amazing hat-trick future star. The next Frank Lampard."

One Twitter user simply stated: "I'm saying this out... Mason Mount is the next Lampard."

Lampard won 11 major trophies including three Premier League titles during his 13 year stay with Chelsea - so Mount has huge boots to fill.

Speaking about Mount after the win, Lampard said: "He's calm, humble, but with a real desire to be a top player. If he arrives in the box consistently, goals will come."

When asked about his performance, the Blues veteran said: "He was pivotal. People struggle to deal with his quality, and the three goals are important for his confidence."
